Privacy Policy

KidSync ("KidSync," "we," "us") helps families coordinate children's activities, carpools, schedules, and messaging. This policy explains what information the app collects, how we use it, and the choices you have. We built KidSync to collect as little as possible and to keep your family's data scoped to your family.
Information we collect
- Account information — your email address and display name, used to sign you in and identify you within your family.
- Family & member details — the names, roles, and phone numbers of the adults you add to your family, so the app can coordinate contacts and pickups.
- Children's information — the first name you give each child and their activities, schedules, and (optionally) allergies. We intentionally do not collect detailed medical records or other sensitive data.
- Emergency essentials — emergency and pediatrician contact details you choose to add.
- Messages — the content of messages you send to other members of your family or groups.
- Notifications — a device push token and device name (so we can deliver notifications) and your notification preferences.
- Security logs — a record of sensitive actions (e.g., sign-in, changes to members) to help keep your account secure.
How we use information
- To provide and operate the app — calendars, carpools, messaging, and notifications.
- To send you notifications you've enabled (e.g., reminders, pickup alerts, new messages).
- To keep your account and your family's data secure.
We do not sell or rent your personal information, share it with data brokers, or use it for advertising, cross-app tracking, or building marketing profiles. We use your information only to provide KidSync's features to you and your family. We collect the minimum needed to run the app and do not use it to train advertising or third-party AI models.
How information is shared
- Within your family/groups — information is shared with the other members you add, as needed to coordinate (this is the core purpose of the app).
- Service providers — we use Supabase to host data and Expo together with Apple's push service to deliver notifications. They process data on our behalf.
- Never with advertisers — we do not share your or your children's information with advertisers, ad networks, or data brokers.
- Legal — we may disclose information only if required by law or to protect the safety of a child or person.
Data storage & security
Data is stored in a managed PostgreSQL database (Supabase) and access is restricted per family using row-level security, so members of one family cannot read another family's data. Connections are encrypted in transit (HTTPS).
Children's privacy
KidSync is intended for use by parents and caregivers, not by children directly, and we do not knowingly allow children to create their own accounts. A child's information is entered and controlled by the adults in that child's family, solely to coordinate that child's activities.
We never use children's information for advertising, cross-app tracking, profiling, or any purpose other than operating the app for your family, and we never sell it or share it with third parties except the service providers that run KidSync on our behalf (under contract). A parent or guardian can review, edit, or delete a child's information at any time in the app, and deleting your account removes it.
Your choices & rights
- You can edit or remove members, children, activities, and messages within the app.
- You can disable notifications in the app or in your device settings.
- You can permanently delete your account and all associated data in the app (Profile → Security Center → Delete account), or by contacting us (see below). Deleting your account removes your data, including your family, linked children, contacts, and messages.
Data retention
We keep your information for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, associated data is removed from our systems.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We'll revise the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the app.
